Operation Enduring Freedom has lived up to its name in the sense that it has sorely tested the endurance of our military troops, the American public and the Arab people of most of the Middle Eastern countries which have been effected. The Taliban seems ready to talk peace now which is an indication that they have grown weary with the war effort. Our troops have sometimes had to serve five and six tours of duty which has caused tremendous strain on logistics and  psychological stress on our troops and their families.

 This operation began in the immediate aftermath of the bombing of the twin towers in 2001. It was the attempt to wipe out terrorist targets in the Middle East and terror training camps. It has been successful in the sense that it has kept al-Qaeda and the Taliban off balance. They haven't been able since then to pull off a large scale terror attack in the United States. the ranks of the Taliban and al-Qaeda both have been seriously thinned out by the CIA led drone campaign which has largely been conducted along the Afghan Pakistan border.

The slogan of the Operation Enduring Freedom is "Never Forget." It referred to the bombing of the twin towers and the devastating effects of the attack. It was the vow to continue on with the war effort until the enemy was wiped out. I also believe that it means that US resolve would not falter until the enemy had been eliminated.
