The Vietnam War was the last war of it's kind. It was different from the major conflicts that the world and particularily the United States had been involved in before hand. The Vietnamese used guerilla tactice to make the war much more difficult for the United States to win. Each war has its own signature and guerilla warfare was the signature of this particular war. The US found that their force on force techniques of the past just didn't work because the Viet Cong had better sense than to attempt to fight a heads up war.

There was much new technology which was born out of this war. The helicopter got its debut in this war and proved to be a very effective piece of equipment. mPatrolling became the chief tactic of US infantry forces because they had to go out and find the Viet Cong before they could deal with them.

America was in a time of turmoil during this war and society did not receive the troops who fought and died there well. The US has since learned their lesson and corrected te treatment of war veterans to a great degree. There are still some Vietnam Veterans around and we do have designs available for them to use on their military ring.
