The USS Boxer (LHD-4) is calssified as a WASP class amphibious assault ship. Which means that it's primary purpose is to deliver ground troops to the battle. This ship can carry up to 1,894 marines into the battle. That is a bunch of firepower folks. It can also carry a mixture of up to 42 aircraft which would be the CH-53 helocopter, or V-22 Ospreys.

Even though you can't tell by looking at the picture, this ship is armed with the Sea Sparrow Missile System and the Phalanx CIWS.

This ship now serves as the Flagship of combined Task Force 151 which is stationed off of the coast of Somalia. This ship has been active in operations against piracy.
