  1. Surface Navy Eyes Hybrid WarNow I know that I am probably going to get roasted by many of you custom navy ring customers for this but I want to add my 2 cents here. No I was never in the US Navy, I was in the Army. I just want to voice my opinion on the major question of this conference.

The question will be should the Navy add more Littoral Combat Ships to its arsenal or should it add a number of multipurpose fast attack craft?

My answer is this; keep the LCS because it gives us such a technology advantage that I don't see how we can afford not to utilize it fully. We do need a number of multipurpose fast attack craft, but I don't think that we need very many. My reasoning is that the only reason the navy will need the fast attack craft is to combat piracy. We don't need a large fleet for that. The rest of the world community needs to help with this problem since it is not exclusively a US problem. We need to look to the future use of the LCS since each LCS is also a multipurpose craft. The LCS can also perform many of those missions that we would use the smaller craft for. It is also a multiuse vessel. Personally I feel that it can be used to take on a large portion of this workload. What do the rest of you Navy ring customers think?
