  1. piratesSomali pirates have racked up a victory by collecting a four million dollar ransom from the Chinese government. The ship and its crew of 25 were captured in mid October about 700 miles off of the coast of Somalia. Thr Somalis are still reputed to have 8 ships and over 200 other crewmen in captivity from other countries. This business is obviously very lucrative to them so I don't see them ever quitting on their own volition.

The area that the pirates operate in is so vast that they can not always be caught and stopped. The fact that governments are paying their ransom won't do anything to help the situation but what can you do? Our custom navy ring customers cover much of the area but it is just too big.

The Chinese freighter was released without incident and the crew and ship are in good condition. I wonder what can be done in the future to rescue captured crewmen? This seems like the type of situation that our new Littoral Combat Ships would excel in. Let me hear the opinions of some of you  custom navy ring customers on what could possibly be done to stop the piracy.

We might be in a situation like when the marine corps had to attack northern Africa back in the day to stop the ptrates there. All of our marine corps ring customers have to study this in their history.
