I was intrigued by a TV program called "The Best Sniper" recently which showed some of the events of the International Sniper Competition. This competition consisted of 33 teams which competed in 18 different events over a 9 day period of time. The events were seperated into 3 different catagories which included 1)Aerial Platform Shooting 2)Urban Combat Scenario and 3) Stealth Operations. I was surprised to see the diversity of operations that the sniper team is required to be proficient in. I was also surprised at the advanced level of tactics that the sniper team may have to employ. In my mind the sniper just hid and shot and the spotter just assisted him in target selection, but it goes much deeper than that.

During the competition sniper teams from all over the world learned tactics and techniques from each other. This competition was not limited to military teams.

The sniper must be a good shot but he must be a good shot under pressure. There is a difference. Many of the events were designed to stress and tire the snipers out before they even fired the first shot. I learned that the Sniper Team must also be able to engage multiple targets at a time. Now check this one out. Snipers spend much of their time training with pistols. The sniper must be able to engage targets at close range. If his position is overrun he has to be able to fight his way out.

We offer many options for you to use to design your sniper's ring. You can also put yourself into it and use your own ideas. Every one of you has different experiences that we want you to be able to share in your own special way.
