In what seems to be a success the Iraqi government brought a potentially lethal situation to a peaceful end recently when they reacqured the oil well at al-Fakkeh. The oil well which sits about 50 meters from the Iranian border was recently seized by Iranian troops. There are many places where the border is is dispute because it is not clear exactly where the line is located.

The well was reacquired without violence and the situation seems to be well in hand. This is a small victory in diplomacy for the new government but it is a good one.

The Iraqis are also working on an international deal to sell some of their oil revenues to get money flowing again.

Although these things are small steps they are positive actions at the same time. Those custom military ring customers who follow this blog stationed in Iraq are well aware of many of the struggles that the fledgling government is facing and must face in the future. We certainly hope for everyones sake that they will be able to survive this time of crisis. I know that our customers who have ordered Operation Iraqi Freedom rings who are still in country is rooting for the new government so that they will be able to return home.
