The Flame Assault Shoulder Weapon (FLASH) is a shoulder fired rocket launcher which holds 4 66mm incendiary rockets. Each rocket carries 1.34 pounds of thickened pyrophoric agent (TPA).

TPA is a chemical compound which burns at a very high temperature when it is exposed to air. The shooter can fire all or one of the rockets at a time. The FLASH was assigned to the Infantry platoon. Some of you military ring customers who are old warriors may remember this weapon since it is not really used today. The launcher was bulky to carry and there were reliability problems with the ammunition.

This is one of the few weapons that I didn't get the opportunity to fire when I was in the army although I have seen it fired which was a sight to behold. One of the killing features of this round was that if it were fired at you while you were in a foxhole, the incendiary would take all of your oxygen.  You wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of these. They were devastating in the hands of a good Infantryman all of you custom military ring customers who have seen this round fired have seen how it can devastate an area.
