There is no correct or incorrect time or protocol for wearing your military ring. You can wear it in or out of uniform. You can wear it with you dress or duty uniform ant time of the day or night. The only wrong time to wear your military ring is during a uniform inspection if it has been forbidden.

One good thing about the direction that the Army is going is that they will make the dress blue uniform the class A uniform. What this means for you civilians is that it will be the new uniform for functions, special duty, and inspections. The dress green uniform was never appealing to me and doesn't set the soldier apart like the dress blue uniform.

The military ring goes well with each uniform but I believe it goes better with the dress blues.

 There is no hard fast rule on which finger is the best to wear your military ring. You can wear it on any finger of any hand without repurcussions. Most people wear it on the ring finger of the right hand but wearer preference is the key. Some will wear it on their wedding finger if they are not married. Some will wear it on the pinkie. I have also seed them on the middle finger and the thumb. The military ring is also your link to the military when you are not in uniform because it is a wonderful conversation piece.
