  1. foxholeBelieve it or not building a Defensive Fighting Position has evolved almost into a science in modern times. Now all of you military ring customers who are combat arms or combat support arms have been trained in this and know what it takes. When warfare was simple the fighting position was simple. Once tactics were devised to get to the inhabitant of the foxhole the foxhole had to be constructed differently.

Some of you don't know because you should never have to construct one. The art evolved from the simple procedure of digging shallow depressions to digging deep positions with overhead cover. The ideal foxhole will protect the warrior from tanks rolling over it and artillery which explodes in the air and showers shrapnel on the ground. The USMC ring customer that you see here is in a fighting position which has not yet been completed. He has not yet used any timbers and sandbags to build a top to protect him from artillery fire.

The Infantry warrior knows to begin to build the foxhole as soon as he is assigned an area to defend. He will continue to improve on it as long as he is there. Building a foxhole correctly is hard work especially since you are normally physically exhausted before you begin since it is usually done after a hard march. Hopefully this post will give you an idea of what our custom military ring customers who are combat arms troops have to go through.
