  1. ground attackGround Attack Aircraft are the aircraft that I had the opportunity to work with as an Army Artillery Forward Observer. This is the aircraft that ground forces love to see arrive when the going gets rough. I always got a rush when I had called for these planes and heard them screaming in to help.
The A-10 which is pictured here is the primary Ground Attack Aircraft of the US Air Force and I think that it is the best in the world at what it does as I'm sure all A-10 pilot's ring customers will agree.
I used to watch the  A-10 as it seemed to just hang in space and do its thing. Ground Attack Aircraft must be able to fly slowly and maneuver easily in order to put accurate fire on their targets. They don't necessarily have to be lightning fast but they must be maneuverable and heavily armored because they take a lot of small arms fire from enemy soldiers on the ground.
Some of you military ring customers may know that ground attack pilots are a different breed than fighter pilots. They have to be sure and deliberate because the slightest mistake can kill friendly soldiers.
