  1. Image:48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.svgThe 48th Infantry Brigade is a modular infantry brigade of the Georgia Army National Guard. It was organized in 1825 and served the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. The unit was brought into service on April 20 1861 at Macon GA and was surrendered at Appomattox VA.

The 48th has seen action in Bosnia in support of Task Force Eagle and during Operation Iraqi Freedom III. It took heavy casualties during OIF because it was deployed in one of the most troubled areas of Baghdad. Unfortunately I had the pleasure of knowing many of those fine soldiers who lost their lives during this conflict.

We have served this unit with many custom military rings over the years, and have made many good acquaintances with these soldiers. This unit is scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan to support Operation Enduring Freedom during the summer of 2009. We wish you Godspeed in your mission and we wish you a safe return.
