  1. 11th ACRThis unit has many stories that can be told. It is the unit stationed at Fort Irwin California. I could tell about its involvement in The Philipine-American War, The Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, or Operation Iraqi Freedom, but that is not the purpose of this post today. This unit has earned the right to wear just about every military ring that we produce because of its rich history.

What we should produce for them is a ring called the National Training center ring. We have their unit crest which can be mixed with any of the other designs that I have mentioned above.

When I was active duty Army some years ago my unit (the 24th Infantry Division) had an ongoing rivalry with this unit. The reason was that we would have to face them in the National Training Center in Fort Irwin CA several times a year. We were one of the very few active duty divisions which defeated them in battle from time to time, but let me tell you in order to defeat them you had to pack a lunch because it took everything that you had and then some. This unit had the job of functioning as the enemy for units which had to train to fight in Desert Warfare. Since the 24th Infantry Division was created specifically to respond to middle east problems we had the dubious distinction of having to go up against these guys on a regular basis. I have to give them all of the props that I can because we lost more to them than we won, but we won some too.

This unit trained year round for its mission and the reason that they were so good was that they would go up against unit after unit year after year. That was all that they did. I really believe that they were infinitely better than the enemy that they represented. I will give them much of the credit for they way that our Armed Forces were able to defeat Saddam Hussein in both Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm. The training that we received opposing them was absolutely the best training possible.
